These are some of the activities that the Garfield Rough Riders have been involved with Panguitch City, Garfield County, and the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation to improve our trails and our riding experiences:
– We worked with Panguitch City to develop a Master Trails Plan. Upon approval, the club installed trail markers on ten trails.
– A grant was obtained to build four kiosks to display our trails. The cost of building the kiosks exceeded the available grant money. The Garfield Rough Riders then provided the labor to construct two kiosks, one on Highway 143, and one in Hatch.
– With the assistance of Panguitch City and Garfield County, grant money was obtained to purchase the following equipment to maintain the trail system:
- Enclosed trailer that is stocked with materials to maintain the trails
- A Bobcat skid steer
- A 50″ trail Dozer
- A Mini Excavator
– The Garfield Rough Riders regularly schedules rides to pick up trash from the trails. This is one way that grant money can be earned for our community projects.
– The club is often informed of trails that have been blocked by fallen trees or other things. We work to remove the item(s) obstructing the trail.
– With the assistance from the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation, grants have been obtained to purchase six picnic tables. These have been placed in the following locations:
- Pink Cliffs
- Top of Proctor Canyon
- Casto Canyon
- Peterson Point
- Top of Lime Kiln
- Smith Canyon
