Past Rides

Circleville/Dog Valley/Smith Canyon

After the parade, we went on a ride through Dog Valley and down into Circleville for lunch at Butch Cassidy’s Hideout Cafe. In the picture of the cafe below, there are no cars because I forgot to take pictures and returned on Sunday, and it was closed! The food was fantastic! After leaving the Cafe, we proceeded south through Smith Canyon. If you haven’t been through these mountains, you need to add it to your bucket list!

Pioneer Day Parade – July 27, 2024

It was so much fun throwing candy out to the kids (even some Sr. Citizen kids)! We had a good turnout representing our club, and there were a lot of fans cheering us on! Next year, let’s double our numbers!

Bear Valley – July 22, 2024

This was another pre-ride for the Bryce Valley ATV Rally. What an opportunity we have to experience these rides as a club! This ride did not disappoint, except for one thing…we got a flat tire! We put in five plugs and it still wouldn’t hold air. A special thanks to Joe and Gary for heading home to bring us back a spare. I have always said that it is not safe to head out on a trail ride with no other people accompanying you. This would have been a scary scenario had we been alone. All in all, the ride was beautiful as you can see from these pictures.

Mt. Dutton – July 20, 2024

What a beautiful ride we had on Saturday! Thank you, Chad Justus, for leading us on this amazing ride. We witnessed beautiful scenery throughout the whole ride and ate great food at the Mercantile in Antimony. There were 5 units on this ride, with 8 people. The pictures below will show you some of the beauty that we saw!

Sandy Peak – July 17, 2024

It’s always great to ride around the Sandy Peak Loop. We all had so much fun, and even cleared a tree blocking the trail, thanks to Bruce Decker and his chainsaw!

West Hunt – July 11, 2024

This ride left directly from the Fairground building at 9:00 am. It was a pre-ride for the Bryce Valley Rally.

Dave’s Hollow – July 10, 2024

This was a trailered ride that left from the Fairground building at 9:00 am. There were only 4 units that went on the ride, so that helped to minimize the dust! Those that couldn’t join us missed a very beautiful and easy ride.

Buckskin Valley – July 7, 2024

This was a pre-ride for the Bryce Valley Rally.

Ipson Creek – July 6, 2024

It was a beautiful and dry day to go on this ride. There were seven units that went on this ride, which was led by Joe Orman. We started out going west through Five Mile, through the Rock Garden, to the Little Valley Trail. We did see several antelope along the way! There were a couple of trees blocking the trail, which were quickly cut down and moved out of the way. When we reached Panguitch Lake, lunch was available at the Burger Barn, which is one of the Bryce Valley Rally sponsors. After lunch, we were able to see the Panguitch Lake Falls (unofficial name), and then headed East across Highway 143 following the Pass Creek route to Sky Valley. Another beautiful ride in the books!

Hatch, Pausagant, Pink Cliffs – June 8, 2024

What a beautiful ride on a beautiful day! Thanks to Phil Bostrom and Kelly Walker for leading the ride! Also thanks to Brody Johnson and Joe Orman for the pictures! There was a lot of dust, but the scenery made up for it.

Quilt Walk Ride – June 6, 2024

This ride was done to give the friends/family of the Quilt Walk participants something to do while the participants attended their classes. The ride was the Sanford Canyon/Limekiln loop and was beautiful as always. There were three UTVs that joined our club on this ride. Everyone had a great time, and hopefully next year there will be even more that want to take advantage of this ride with us!

Trail Cleanup – May 27, 2024

Joe Orman received a call that there was a big tree blocking the trail from Limekiln towards West Hunt. A few of us (Joe Orman, Tom Canny, Bruce Decker, and Ruben & Susan Gallego) went out. It was a beautiful day and we weren’t sure what we would find. As you can see by the pictures that it was indeed a very large tree! Some people had started going around the tree, making a new trail. We removed the tree and blocked off the new trail. It’s important that as we ride in these beautiful places, that we don’t create new trails. The funny part about this cleanup is that there were two really nice gas chain saws, but the one that did most of the work was a little battery operated saw!

Casto Canyon – May 25, 2024

This ride was with the Tushar Mountain Club and happened on a beautiful day! There were nine OHVs that participated. Casto Canyon is limited to OHVs that are 50″ or less in width. This is one of the most beautiful rides in our area.

Poverty Trail – May 11, 2024

We joined the Tushar Mountain ATV Club on a ride to the Poverty Trail. We trailered to the Kanab area and met Chris More at the trailhead. Chris did a great job leading us on this ride. He certainly knew where to go as some of the trails disappeared because we were traveling on solid rock in some places. This was definitely an advanced ride as there were several times that not all four of our tires were on the ground! There were lots of ups and downs, and 90 degree turns when you reached the top. The scenery was spectacular as you can see from the pictures below. We were also able to hike down to the Virgin River. Thank you, Chris for providing a very exciting day for all of us.

Sandy Peak Loop – May 4, 2024

This ride to the Sandy Peak Loop provided us the opportunity to clean up the trails and pick up trash. This is one way our Club can give back to the community and to all those that enjoy our beautiful surroundings. It was a beautiful day and the trails were in better shape than we expected. One tree had to be cut that was partially blocking the trail (thank you Joe Orman for getting that done), and there were several tree limbs that had to be removed off the trail. A lot of cans were also gathered to clean up the trail. Many thanks for those that came out to help. It was a fun day enjoying our beautiful backyard!

Peek-a-Boo Slot Canyon – April 6, 2024

This time the Tushar Mountain ATV Club joined us on our ride to Peek-a-Boo! This was a trailered ride to the Peekaboo turnout near Kanab. We were fortunate to have Josh Libertor from the Kanab Club lead us in this ride. Thank you Josh! These pictures don’t do the ride justice. The scenery was spectacular and the slot canyon was amazing.

Gooseberry Mesa – March 29, 2024

We joined the Tushar Mountain Club on a ride to Gooseberry Mesa. We want to thank them for the invitation to join them. Those that went said it was a great ride.

Ticaboo – March 15 – 17, 2024

The ride home through Capital Reef National Park was fantastic! The sun was out so we were able to see so much more than our drive on Friday!

On Sunday, March 17, some of the group went on an additional ride to see a view of Lake Powell. The weather was a little drizzly, but that didn’t dampen their desire to ride!

On Saturday, March 16, we were so fortunate to have Ray Golden lead us on a Poison Springs ride. He is an expert leading this area and had so much good information along the way. The weather was perfect too! We certainly crossed many streams of water, and even a 2 1/2′ river (Dirty Devil) which seemed more like 4′! Some people hiked up to the cave, and we all saw the many petroglyphs! The scenery was spectacular, and this ride was so much fun!

On Friday, March 15, we drove to the Ticaboo Lodge. On the way, we were a little concerned with the weather, as seen in the photo below. Once we checked into the Ticaboo Lodge, we went on our first ride through a slot canyon. It was magnificent, but I call this route “from Ticaboo to the Squeeze”. There was one point that I was sure we wouldn’t get through, but we did and it made that ride extra special!

Three Corners / Beaver Dam – February 24, 2024

Our club was invited to join the Tushar Mountain ATV Club to ride to 3 Corners / Beaver Dam Area. We trailered to Littlefield, Arizona and there were a total of 19 units between the two clubs! We saw a drop off that was identified as “Thelma and Louise” that looked just like the cliff in the movie that they drove off. The wiggly, sandy riverbed road was a lot of fun. There was a huge hole that is referred to as “Devil’s Nostril” that was fascinating. The 3 corners monument made it easy to walk in 3 states (Utah, Nevada, Arizona) in just seconds. We saw a partial stone building near the Virgin River Gorge area. All in all, the ride was great and the company was terrific!
